If you have to do intervals, the Egan rides is one of the least painful ways to do them. It leaves from the Egan Middle School in Los Altos at 6 pm on Thursdays once day light savings time takes effect. The route typically winds its way through Los Altos Hills in a serpentine roller coaster of climbs and descents designed to generate a deep lactic acid burn in even the strongest riders.

Diablo Cyclists Evening Ride

Every Wednesday at 5:15PM during summer daylight savings they leave from Countrywood, corner of Bancroft and Treat OR you can meet them at Mormom Church, Northgate @ 5:30PM.
The ride is to Mt Diablo to the Junction & Beyond. Nice fast pace until you get to the Mt. where you ride your pace they all wait at the junction; unless you want to go to the top.

Fremont Freewheelers Pizza Rides

Summer only: These rides are for riders of ALL levels with a good attitude. Do the ride as fast or as slow as you like and then have the pizza after along with a good chat.

San Jose BC Tuesday night training rides

These start soon after daylight savings begin. Up to 2002 they were located in the heart of San Jose somewhere, a secret to all but a chosen few. For 2002 they moved to a new location in Fremont, close to the old FFBC twilight course. Exact location is the block on the intersection of Stevenson Blvd and Eureka drive, west of Cherry. The continuation of these rides into 2003 will depend upon the development of surrounding businesses, but a recent communication with SJBC indicates a continuation. Time is approximate.

Valley (or Wednesday) Ride

This popular group ride departs from the Los Altos Peet's around 6 pm each Wednesday once day light savings time kicks in. A true hammer-fest, with many local elite riders using it as their hard, midweek training session between weekend races. The route takes you through Woodside and Portola Valley, with an intermediate sprint at the Woodside town line. The climax of the ride is the KOM sprint at the top of Huddart Park, but riders also contest the sprint for the Addison-Wesley sign on Sand Hill road and the sprint for Page Mill road.
