First, thanks to my wife for showing up. Always nice to have a cheering section, and nice to know I need to work on my gracefulness on the barriers.

The course was at Coyote Point. Pretty neat to watch the planes land at SFO all day. The course went clockwise. Right from the gun we hit the hill/forest of Eucalyptus. Again, I was at the back. We got to a crazy fast start. I was a bit unsure of the field like usual.

On my pre-ride I notice everybody was slipping on the Eucalyptus leaves and so forth. So I lowered my tire pressure a bit and that helped a lot. On the fist hill, sure enough, plenty of guys spun out on the branches and expecting this I was off the bike and passed about seven guys. Only problem when I got to the top I lost all the work I did having a rare issue remounting.

Worked my way over to the top of the final hill. Back down. On the final sharp right hand down, a guy cut in front of me to take the corner tight. I had unclipped my inside foot to take it sharp. He didn't, took it too tight and went down hard in front of me. There is a pretty sweet shot of it on the web.

Get through the forest and over the second set of barriers And off to the flat section. As usual, being my strength I pass 5 guys. Making up sometime. Cut through the last set of barriers, ride along the bay and back to the forest. I was able to keep a pretty good pace for the rest of the race and finished 24th out 37 dudes.

Turns out Fast Freddy was there and I missed him....
