The Tour De Granite Mtb. Race was like none other I have done before, keep in mind my experience is very limited. The race started out with a little run to your bike. Got to love that running! Hehehe.....! The course started out with some single track that comes pretty close in two locations to barbed wire fence. Needless to say you don't want to get bunched up in there and end-up on the fence!

From there the course goes into a green meadow. You would think this would be nice and smooth and peaceful, not quite. It had bumps and logs. YEAH-HA.....!! After the meadow we went through fast moving single track with bumps,dips,turns,brush,trees,and soft dirt. IT WAS WILD........!! Smile! The course then went through some fire road for climbing, then onto some more single track to "GRANITE" I call it ball buster! You start by climbing up through some short rock trails, then your at the top of some Granite for a little ride. Nice view, but don't fuc.....up or you will go places you don't want to go.

Then it drops down onto some other granite, across some water and up a granite "WALL"!!! When I first saw the wall. I said to myself, no problem, my running training will help me out. "O"-SHI....!! When you get half way up. It gets steeper. I heard someone say 18% grade. OUCH!!! Note: wear soft cleat mtb. shoes. Do not wear hard plastic cleats. I believe I left half my cleats on the granite. Smile!

Once you get on the top(qt.mile), it's not over you ride up and around some more on granite before dropping into some single track, creek crossing, log jumping, and fire roads. Very fast, very soft. What was cool! The big soft corners in the single track where a blast if you hit your rear brake, you know, slide around corners, but be careful, because with the soft stuff, It's hard to find a line and you don't want your front wheel going T-bone on you! Keep her straight baby....!

So in short I had a fantastic time! Got 5th place in Sport Class, which was my first Sport Class Race. F.Y.I., They had a keg of beer at the finish line. Mtb. Racers Party. WHOO-HOO...! OUCH!!
